Rong May Glass Bridge Sapa: Tickets, Hours & Tips (2026) | Advice for Muslim Travellers

The Rong May Glass Bridge (“Dragon Cloud”, Cầu kính Rồng Mây) is a glass-floored skywalk hanging off the cliffs of O Quy Ho Pass, about 18–20 km from Sapa town on the Lai Chau side of the pass. A glass elevator lifts you up the rock face to a platform at roughly 2,200 m above sea level, where you step onto the glass with the Hoang Lien Son range and the valley far below. The standard ticket costs 500,000 VND per adult (300,000 VND for children 1.0–1.4 m tall, free under 1 m) and includes the elevator, shuttle and bridge; the site is open daily from about 7:00 to 17:30. For Muslim travellers it is a straightforward thrill stop of 1–2 hours – the only planning points are the weather and lunch, which is best taken in Sapa town.

Is the Rong May Glass Bridge Muslim-Friendly?

Yes. It is a purely scenic attraction with no religious or cultural rules, and it suits Muslim families, honeymoon couples and groups of friends alike. Women in hijab or long dresses are fine on the glass and in the elevator; on windy days a scarf pin or inner cap keeps a hijab in place. The café on site sells drinks and snacks, but there is no halal food, so we plan lunch in Sapa town before or after the visit.

The Glass Bridge in 60 Seconds

  • Where: on O Quy Ho Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in Vietnam, on the border of Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces.
  • When: construction started in January 2018 and the site opened to visitors in 2019.
  • How high: the platform sits around 2,200 m above sea level; the operator states the bridge is about 548 m above the gorge, and the elevator rises roughly 300 m up the cliff.
  • The bridge: about 50 m long and 5 m wide, built of multi-layer safety glass.

What You Will See

The Glass Elevator

A transparent cabin carrying up to 30 people climbs the cliff in a few minutes, giving the first wide view over O Quy Ho Pass and the winding road below.

The Glass Skywalk

From the top you walk out onto the glass floor, with the mountain falling away beneath your feet. On clear days you can see the peaks of the Hoang Lien Son range; on misty days you stand above a sea of cloud, which gives the bridge its “Dragon Cloud” name.

Late afternoon light over the pass is spectacular. If you visit after 15:00, stop at a viewpoint on the way back to Sapa for sunset.

Halal Meals and the Nearest Mosque

There is no halal food at the glass bridge or along O Quy Ho Pass. Have lunch in Sapa town, where several Muslim-run halal restaurants cluster on Thac Bac Street (Hajah Hawa at 016, Pak Tam at 025 and Sapa Halal Restaurant at 10B), about 30–40 minutes’ drive from the bridge. None of them is certified by a named halal body, so we explain exactly what each offers. On our tours we pre-book halal meals in Sapa and, for longer days on the road, agree alternatives with you in advance, such as vegetarian food, seafood without meat or halal-friendly dishes. There is no mosque in Lao Cai or Lai Chau province; the nearest is Al-Noor Mosque in Hanoi. See our guide to halal food in Sapa.

Tips for Muslim Families, Women and Older Travellers

  • Best time: mornings from 8:00 to 10:00 are often clearest; afternoons are better for sunset colour.
  • Children: keep small children’s hands held on the glass; the games have height and age limits.
  • Older travellers: the elevator and shuttle mean little walking; the glass can still feel dizzying, so take it slowly.
  • Cash: bring some VND for the adventure games, drinks and snacks.
