Is There Halal Food in Hoi An? The Honest Answer (October 2026)
Halal food in Hoi An is limited. We checked the HALCERT client list, the Halal Vietnam directory, Vietnamese press reports and travel guides and found no restaurant in Hoi An with a halal certificate we could verify. The well-known Indian restaurants Baba’s Kitchen and Ganesh use halal meat but serve alcohol. Two places describe themselves as halal and we found no sign that they serve alcohol: Tasty House at 27 Thoai Ngoc Hau Street (Vietnamese and Indian, with a small prayer room upstairs according to guests) and Spice Route at 80 Phan Chau Trinh Street (Indian). Ask about the meat and alcohol when you order.
There is no mosque or surau in Hoi An; the nearest proper prayer room is above Halal Food Karim in Da Nang, about 30 km away. That is why most Muslim travellers stay in Da Nang, where eight restaurants are Halal Vietnam–certified, and visit Hoi An for the afternoon and the lantern-lit evening – see our Da Nang Muslim-friendly hotels.
