Why Visit Da Nang as a Muslim Traveler?
Da Nang, on the central coast, is Vietnam’s most popular beach city. Since 1 July 2025 it also includes the former Quang Nam province, so Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary – both UNESCO World Heritage Sites – are now part of Da Nang city. The city is actively developing Muslim-friendly tourism: it has around 40 halal and Indian restaurants, more than 10 of them halal-certified, and welcomed about 617,000 Muslim visitors in 2025.

Top Things to Do in Da Nang and Hoi An for Muslim Travelers
1. Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge
About 25 km from the city, Ba Na Hills is reached by record-breaking cable cars. The Golden Bridge, a 150 m walkway held by two giant stone hands, opened in June 2018. 2. Hoi An Ancient Town
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999: a former trading port of yellow merchant houses, the Japanese Covered Bridge and lantern-lit streets. 3. Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son)
Five marble and limestone hills with caves, pagodas and viewpoints, about 8 km from the city on the road to Hoi An. Thuy Son, the main mountain, costs 40,000 VND, with an optional lift.
4. My Khe Beach and Son Tra Peninsula
My Khe is a long, clean city beach; Son Tra peninsula offers forest, viewpoints and the large Lady Buddha statue at Linh Ung Pagoda.
5. Dragon Bridge
The 666 m Dragon Bridge breathes fire and water at 21:00 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
6. My Son Sanctuary
The ruins of Hindu temples built by the Champa kingdom from the 4th to the 13th century, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 – an important place to learn about the Cham people, whose descendants include most of Vietnam’s Muslims.
Halal Food in Da Nang
Most halal restaurants are on the beach side of the Han River, around My Khe Beach, An Thuong and Tran Hung Dao Street. - Ba Na Hills: dedicated prayer rooms for Muslim visitors.
- Da Nang International Airport: the airport says prayer rooms are available in the terminal; ask staff for the nearest one.
How to Get to Da Nang
- By air: Da Nang International Airport is right next to the city. International routes include Emirates from Dubai (via Bangkok), Vietjet from Jakarta (since April 2026), AirAsia from Bali and many flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Schedules change, so check with your airline.
- Domestic: about 1 hour 20 minutes by air from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
- Visa: most visitors apply online at the official Vietnam e-visa portal; rules vary by nationality.

Best Time to Visit Da Nang
The dry season runs from about February to August, with the best beach weather from April to August. September to December is the rainy and typhoon season, when heavy rain can flood Hoi An’s riverside streets.

Da Nang has no purpose-built mosque yet. Muslims pray at the musalla above Halal Food Karim, 186 Tran Hung Dao Street; ask the restaurant about Friday prayer. Ba Na Hills and the airport also have prayer rooms.
2. Is Da Nang a good destination for Muslim travelers?
