Looking for halal food in Sapa? Sapa now has a small but real halal food scene. Most halal restaurants are on Thac Bac Street in the town centre and serve Malaysian, Indian or Vietnamese halal dishes, and several have a small surau (prayer room). At the top tourist attraction, Sun World Fansipan Legend, there is a halal restaurant at the cable car station. There is no mosque in Sapa, so plan your prayers at these restaurants or at your hotel.

Ratings were checked in October 2026 and the list is ordered by how reliable the rating is: restaurants with a well-established TripAdvisor rating come first, from the highest score to the lowest, followed by places rated mainly on Google Maps, and finally newer places with only a few reviews so far. 1. Sharia Restaurant (Sun World Fansipan Legend)

Muslim-Friendly Hotels in Sapa
Sapa House Hotel (03A Thac Bac Street) offers a halal breakfast for an extra charge and is close to the halal restaurants. Most other hotel breakfasts in Sapa are not halal, so choose eggs, bread, fruit and vegetarian dishes, or ask us to arrange a halal breakfast.
Vegetarian Options in Sapa
If you cannot reach a halal restaurant, vegetarian food is the safest choice: try Sapa Cloudy Vegetarian (10 Hoang Lien Street), Thong Dong Vegan Kitchen & Cafe (8B Hoang Dieu Street) or Moment Romantic Restaurant, which has vegan set menus.
Where to Pray in Sapa
There is no mosque in Sapa or Lao Cai province; the nearest is Al-Noor Mosque in Hanoi. You can pray in the prayer rooms at Hajah Hawa, Sapa Banana Leaf and Rasa Sayang, or at your hotel; ask reception for the qibla direction. On treks, your guide will find a quiet, clean place to stop at prayer time.
Restaurants Removed from Older Guides
Several restaurants listed in older “halal Sapa” guides could not be confirmed in 2025–2026, so we have removed them: Namaste Omar’s Indian Restaurant (its address is now used by a different Indian restaurant that does not claim to be halal), Sapa Bombay Halal Restaurant and the halal restaurant at Cosiana Hotel.
How to Check if a Restaurant Is Halal
- Ask whether the restaurant serves pork or alcohol, and where the meat comes from.
- Look for a halal certificate and the issuing body; HALCERT is Vietnam’s national certification body.
- “Indian restaurant” does not always mean halal.
- When in doubt, choose vegetarian dishes.
