Vietnam Muslim Travel Destinations

Where should Muslim travelers go in Vietnam? Most first-time visitors combine the north and the south: Hanoi, with Al-Noor Mosque and a cluster of halal restaurants in the Old Quarter, a cruise on Halong Bay, then Ho Chi Minh City, which has more mosques and halal restaurants than any other Vietnamese city. With more time, add Da Nang and Hoi An for beaches and heritage, or the mountains of Sapa.

Below, each destination has its own Muslim travel guide – mosques, halal food, prayer facilities, top attractions and private tours – grouped by region. Every tour is private and tailor-made: we pre-book halal or Muslim-friendly meals. Not sure where to start? Read the FAQs at the bottom of this page or ask our team for a free itinerary.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which Vietnam destination is best for first-time Muslim travelers?

For a first trip, Hanoi, Halong Bay and Ho Chi Minh City cover the highlights with the best Muslim facilities. Hanoi has Al-Noor Mosque and around fifteen halal or Muslim-friendly restaurants; halal meals can be arranged on Halong Bay cruises; and Ho Chi Minh City has the Central Mosque on Dong Du Street and the widest choice of halal food in Vietnam. Our Hanoi – Saigon Muslim package (7 days) combines all three.

2. Where should I go in Vietnam with 3 days?

Stay in one region and avoid internal flights. In the north, spend a day in Hanoi, a day on a Halong Bay day cruise and a day in Ninh Binh (Hoa Lu – Tam Coc). In the south, combine a Ho Chi Minh City tour with the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta.

3. What is the best 4-day itinerary in Vietnam for Muslim travelers?

Choose one base. The Hanoi package (4 days) covers the Hanoi city tour, a Halong Bay day cruise and Hoa Lu – Tam Coc. The Ho Chi Minh City package (4 days) adds the Cao Dai Temple, Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta. For beaches and heritage, the Da Nang – Hoi An – Ba Na Hills tour (4 days) is the best fit.

4. Where should I go in Vietnam with 5 days?

Five days allows an overnight cruise. The Hanoi package (5 days) includes the city tour, Hoa Lu – Tam Coc and a night on Halong Bay. In the south, the Ho Chi Minh City package (5 days) adds a Muslim shopping day, while Saigon – Mui Ne – Dalat (5 days) adds sand dunes and cool highlands.

5. What can I see in Vietnam in 7 days?

Seven days is enough for two regions or a deeper look at the north. The Hanoi – Saigon package pairs Hanoi, Halong Bay and Ninh Binh with Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta. The Hanoi package (7 days) adds Sapa and Fansipan to Hanoi, Ninh Binh and an overnight Halong Bay cruise.

6. How many days do I need to see Vietnam from north to south?

At least 9–10 days. Our 9-day and 10-day Vietnam Muslim packages cover Hanoi, an overnight Halong Bay cruise, Da Nang, Hoi An and Ba Na Hills, and Ho Chi Minh City with the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta, using two domestic flights. The 10-day version also includes Hoa Lu – Tam Coc.

7. Which city in Vietnam has the most halal food?

Ho Chi Minh City. The streets around the Central Mosque on Dong Du Street and Ben Thanh Market have the largest concentration of Malaysian, Indian and Middle Eastern halal restaurants. Hanoi comes second, with most halal places in the Old Quarter and Tay Ho. See our guides to halal restaurants in Saigon and halal restaurants in Hanoi.

8. Where are the mosques in Vietnam?

Hanoi has one mosque, Al-Noor at 12 Hang Luoc Street – the only one in northern Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City has several, including the Central Mosque (Jamia Al-Muslimin) in District 1. The largest Muslim community lives in An Giang province in the Mekong Delta, where the Cham villages around Chau Doc have many mosques. Read more in Islam and Muslims in Vietnam and our Chau Doc Cham Muslim village guide.

9. When is the best time to visit Vietnam, and can I travel during Ramadan?

Vietnam has three climates: the north is most pleasant from October to April, the centre (Da Nang, Hoi An) from February to August, and the south is dry from December to April. You can travel during Ramadan – halal restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City stay open for iftar, and we adjust tour timings for fasting guests. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February and overlaps with the Tet holiday; see our Ramadan in Vietnam guide.

10. Is Vietnam safe and welcoming for Muslim women wearing hijab?

Yes. Vietnam has low levels of violent crime, and visitors wearing hijab are a common sight in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, especially from Malaysia and Indonesia. Dress modestly when visiting temples and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and watch your belongings in crowded markets. Read our Vietnam Muslim travel guide for more practical tips.
