What You Will See
Reunification Palace
The former presidential palace of South Vietnam, and the building a tank drove into on 30 April 1975 to end the war. The interior has been left as it was: the cabinet room, the private quarters, and the command bunker in the basement with its maps and radio sets still in place. Allow about an hour.
War Remnants Museum
The most visited museum in the city and the hardest to walk through. The exhibits cover the war from the Vietnamese side, including a room on the long-term effects of chemical defoliants, with photographs that are explicit. Worth your time, but decide in advance whether children in your group should see that particular room.
A mosque in the city
Ho Chi Minh City, unlike Hanoi, has a real Muslim community and more than a dozen mosques. We usually stop at the Central Mosque on Dong Du Street in District 1, which is the most convenient to the rest of the route; if the timing works better, the guide can take you to a mosque closer to where the group is at that hour.
The colonial centre
Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office face each other across one square, with the People's Committee Hall a short walk away at the top of Nguyen Hue. The cathedral has been under restoration for several years, so we usually view it from the square rather than going in. The post office is still a working post office and you can walk straight through it.
Cho Lon
The old Chinese quarter, a different city from District 1: wholesale markets, herb shops, and Chinese temples thick with coiled incense. We go here in the afternoon when there is time, and it is the stop most often swapped out for shopping.
Halal Food and Prayer
Saigon is the easiest city in Vietnam for Muslim travellers to eat in. There is a cluster of halal restaurants around the Central Mosque on Dong Du Street and more in District 1, so lunch is a genuine choice rather than the only option available.{HALALSG}
On this tour that is easier than on most: the mosque stop is built into the itinerary, and the guide can time it to a prayer if you say so when you book.
Who This Tour Is For
This is the first day most travellers should spend in Saigon: the history that explains the city, the landmarks everyone photographs, and a mosque stop that makes the day workable for Muslim visitors. It suits a first visit, a short stopover, or a family that wants air conditioning between stops.
Pick another tour if
You have already seen the city centre and want the countryside: the Mekong Delta day trip goes to My Tho and Ben Tre, and the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong combination puts the tunnels and the river into a single day.
Why book direct with Vietnam Muslim Tours
We are the operator, not a reseller. The guide who meets you at your hotel works for us, the driver works for us, and the restaurants are ones we book ourselves and keep checking. That means you pay the local price with our best price guarantee, changes on the day go straight to the person running your tour, and nothing is passed through a middleman who has never been to Vietnam. Our travellers rate us on TripAdvisor.
Customise This Tour
This programme is built to be changed. Drop the museum if the content is too heavy for your group, add Ben Thanh Market or a shopping mall, spend longer in Cho Lon, or finish early so you can rest before an evening flight. Tell the guide on the morning and they will reorder the day, as long as the stops are inside the city and inside the hours.
Local Expert Notes
By Jimmy, Vietnam Muslim Tours
- Start at the Reunification Palace, not the museum. The palace is quietest before ten and the museum is bearable in any order; doing it the other way round means queuing twice.
- Saigon is hot all year and the walk between the cathedral and the post office is in full sun. Carry water; the car cannot follow you into the pedestrian square.
- Cho Lon markets close early in the afternoon. If that is the part you care about, say so and we go there before the colonial centre.
- If your group includes teenagers, read them the museum warning in advance. It is a serious place and a surprise does nobody any good.

Ho Chi Minh City Muslim day trip was excellent!
We did not have much time while in Ho Chi Minh City for a business trip, we booked this one-day tour in the last minutes and Mr. Jimmy was very fast in response and arranged the tour very well. Good travel service, the guide is very knowledgeable and driver is friendly. The Halal lunch was very good too. We visited all the most interesting sights in Saigon: Reunification Palace, Vietnam War Remnants Museum, Central Mosque or Lam Son Mosque or other Muslim mosques in Ho Chi Minh City, The Hundred Years Red Cathedral (Notre Dame Cathedral), The Old Post Office and The People’s Committee Hall (take photos) and also China town and some shopping.
Once again, thank you and will use Vietnam Muslim Tours – Asia Travel Expert again next time and will definitely recommend our friends to visit Vietnam!
Thank you

Wonderful Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day
We were very happy with their services. Henry was very professional when handling our enquiries and fast with responses. Our 1 day city tour guide - Tang, was very informative and accommodating whereas our 1 day Mekong Delta guide - Tinh, was knowledgeable and helpful. We had a very patient and smiley driver for both days and halal lunches arranged in Saigon and Muslim Restaurant in Mekong were tasty too. Thank you (Vietnam Muslim Tours – Asia Travel Expert Co., Ltd) for making our first visit to Ho Chi Minh easy and delightful. We leave with many fond memories and have no reservation recommending you to others.
Thank you
Rashidah
